Do you know how to avoid online scams? Keep reading to learn 4 tips to help you navigate the internet safely.
The majority of us love being online, but many of us are also victims of online scams, which really can be a pain. Some of them are so sneaky and look so real; you have to be really vigilant to spot where the actual ‘giveaway’ is that it is not, and other scams make themselves known a little more easily.
Either way, avoiding them all together would be the ideal outcome, so we have put together some top tips on how you can stay safe from online scams while you enjoy the internet in all of its glory.
Keeping on top of your privacy settings is one of the easiest things we can do to protect ourselves online, yet many of us either do not use them or do not know how to use them properly. That being said, alongside the awareness of new privacy settings and how they can help, around 80% of users from a small DuckDuckGo survey had adjusted their settings in the past 12 months, in 2019. The awareness is rising, but users really need to sit down and learn about what these privacy settings mean and who they can keep out.
Ignore Unsolicited Messages
The chances of someone sliding into your DM’s to offer you money for no reason is on the rise, but the authenticity of these messages is not. If you get a message from someone you do not know, someone who has no friends on their profile, no interactions, and a picture that has only been uploaded one day ago, the chances are they are not who they are pretending to be, which will also mean they are probably pretending to offer what they are offering. A common version of this is people posing as princes or sugar daddies.
Beware Of The Sugar Daddy Scam, as it can seem pretty ‘harmless’ even if they do not appear to be real. They have a very systematic approach to receiving money from you and taking back any they gave you.
Keep Your Passwords Strong and Safe
Passwords are becoming easier and easier to hack. Password123 might have, at some point, been relatively safe, but opting for anything obvious that does not have a unique mixture of capital letters, numbers, and symbols is a disaster for you and a hacker’s dream come true.
If you are not good at remembering passwords or making up strong and safe ones, then you can use a password generator and password manager to keep on top of them. If you save them in the Google Keychain, they will also let you know if your password has been breached.
Keep Your Software Updated
Software updates are there to keep our chosen software working as best as it possibly can. And while we might automatically think of improved speed or more features, there are also vital improvements made to security which, if not implemented, could be a massive ‘in’ for those looking for one. Avoid giving immoral opportunists the chance to get into your device by making sure all of your software is regularly updated.

If the pandemic over the past year and a half has highlighted one thing, it’s the sheer importance of our health and wellbeing. As coronavirus and Covid-19 have rapidly spread around the world, underlying health conditions have become a major cause for concern and many of us are learning to take better care of our bodies where we can. Of course, there are countless things you can do to maximise your health, fitness and wellbeing. You can eat a balanced diet and stick within your recommended calorie count. You can get your recommended one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week. You can take Covid precautions, such as wearing a face mask or face covering, washing and sanitising your hands regularly and keeping a two meter distance from others. But there are also times when you should check in with professionals whose role it is to check in on certain aspects of your health. Here are a few different checkups you should keep up to date with now appointments are opening back up and things are getting a little more back to normal.
Eye tests don’t have to be attended that regularly. In fact, it’s recommended that you go once every two years. This is extremely low commitment, so there’s no excuse to miss this appointment. No matter how busy you may be, or what commitments and responsibilities you may have, it’s nigh on impossible to not have a half hour window free at some point in two whole years. The eye test itself will be pretty simple and straightforward. When you turn up, you needn’t worry, as it’s a completely comfortable and pain free experience. Your optometrist will greet you and take you into a room where the checkup will take place. They’ll use this opportunity to take a good look at your eyes and their overall health, from front to back, using their own eyes and special machinery and equipment. You are likely to undergo a number of vision tests to determine whether your eyes are functioning as they are expected to. This will help your optometrist to identify any eye related health issues or problems that you may be experiencing, such as glaucoma, cataracts or displaced retina. A simple eye check up can even take a look at the blood vessels inside your eye, highlighting any issues that you may be experiencing unrelated to your eyes, such as diabetes. Once this part of the process is over, you will have a standard sight test with letters on a board at the other side of the room. This will allow your optometrist to prescribe you lenses if required.
Most of us don’t have to have hearing tests regularly throughout our adult lives. We tend to have auditory tests as children, to ensure that our hearing is working well, and then don’t visit an audiologist again for a long time. While you don’t need routine appointments for hearing tests, you should make sure to reach out to an audiologist for an appointment if you experience any changes to your sense of hearing. In this situation, your audiologist will invite you to an appointment where they can help to identify and diagnose issues such as moderate hearing loss. If you have issues with your hearing, they will then be able to recommend treatments or hearing aids and guide you through the process towards helping your hearing.
Dental Check Ups
Dental checkups are a more regular occurrence in our lives. It’s recommended that we visit our dentist once every six months and this is for good reason. Decay and other dental issues can progress pretty quickly, and six monthly checkups help your dentist to identify and treat them quickly. The initial checkup will be simple and straightforward, generally including an oral examination and, if necessary, x rays. If any treatment needs to be carried out, such as fillings, root canals, crowns, extractions or anything else, your dentist will be able to schedule you a follow on appointment.
Sexual Health Checks
If you’re sexually active, regular sexual health checks will help to ensure your health and wellbeing. These will help to diagnose any STIs or STDs that you may have contracted if you have had unprotected sex or if your condom has broken. They are simple and you should get your results quickly. The healthcare professional may carry out tests there and then or provide you with something like a Chlamydia test kit. If other problems are unveiled, they will direct you through the correct course of treatment.
If you have a cervix and you’re aged 25 or over, you need to attend cervical screening. You may also hear this appointment and process referred to as a “smear test” or a “pap smear”. The process is generally pain free and pretty fast. It will allow healthcare professionals to take a look at cellular material in your cervix and whether it has any irregularities. Irregularities, if found, can be investigated to determine whether the cells are cancerous, and if you require treatment as a result, you will be referred on to the appropriate facilities. Following your initial cervical screening at the age of 25, you will usually be invited back for further screening once every three years until you are 44. Anyone aged between 45 and 60 will be asked to re attend once every five years.
Breast screening is another necessity for individuals with breasts. It’s a sad reality that breast cancer is something that many women experience in their lives. Fortunately for some, breast screening can help to identify signs or the presence of breast cancer early on, allowing treatment to commence sooner and maximising chances of survival. Generally, you don’t have to book in breast screening yourself. Instead, you are likely to receive a letter from your doctor as and when you should be having it carried out. If you have a family history of breast cancer, or if you notice a lump in your own breast, contact your doctor and they will be able to book you in for a check. Even if you don’t have an appointment, it is still important to carry out regular checks on your own breasts, which will help you to notice any changes to them yourself.
These are just a few health checks that may be relevant to you. Hopefully, this will serve as a reminder to book in if necessary!

By today's standards, no one hooks up with a close relative, even siblings for that matter. In History, as you very well know by now, this was common "real" practice to keep the bloodlines pure. Dany is believed to be Jon Snow's aunt. I wouldn't find it one bit awkward, if they'd be paired up as King and Queen. In fact, many are hoping for this outcome, well... for the ones who understand what medieval times were, along with the knowledge that Targaryen's practiced incest for centuries. I can't stress enough, that it is an Historical Fantasy. So stop being repulsed! *EYE ROLL*
I thought Jamie Lannister gave her a peaceful death with "dignity", considering her age. I knew she had planned Joeffry's death all along, from day one! In the books, it is said that she gave Sansa a hair piece on her wedding day, and in one particular stone, attached to the head piece, the poison was held and tucked away for later that day. But here's the thing, my instincts tell me Margery was in on it too. That's another reason why Cercie blew up the Sept! It was all calculated on Cercie's part, she wanted the Tyrell's to fall one by one, regardless of how long it would take. So bye, my feisty old lady...
I promised you something! Didn't I?

Body Sugaring- A type of sugar that’s good for you!
by Pillow Talk Gal
When someone first mentioned body sugaring to me, I have to admit I had no clue what they were talking about.
Was it some kind of new skin treatment craze
or was it something involving aroma therapy?
I quickly discovered that it is a wonderful hair removal method that’s all the rage.
First of all, let me be very clear that the idea of anything involving pulling on any hair on my body, is not my idea of a good time.
I had such a bad experience in the past that I vowed never to put myself through that again.
This said, The Sugar Hive-NDG had such great reviews that I couldn’t resist checking it out.
Ample parking makes it easy to access
and the owner, Oriel, was very inviting.
Upon entering, my senses were treated to wonderful aromas both from candles and the lovely natural sugar based products being used in my treatment.
After filling out a form (health information taken only as a precautionary measure) I was guided to a lovely room where we began the process.
While applying a skin preparation lotion (which helps to disinfect the skin and is completely natural), Oriel explained the origins of body sugaring to me.
It all began thousands of years ago with the Egyptians. The pharaohs and their entourage used this method to remove unwanted hair. Up until very recently, body sugaring had popularity mostly in Europe but thanks to word of mouth, it has gained momentum here in North America and shows no signs of slowing down.
All the products used are completely natural (made entirely of sugar, water and lemon juice) and this special formula of natural goodness does not adhere to live skin cells (unlike waxing, the sugar only removes the hair and dead skin cells, and not healthy skin cells).
The advantages of this include reducing redness and eliminating the possibility of developing ingrown hairs. The sugar used is prepared at room temperature so there is no worry of dealing with that feeling of burnt skin often experienced with hot wax. The fact that it is a natural product also is good news for the environment, as no harsh chemicals are used and the sugar is applied simply by a technique using only the fingers.
it all sounds fine and dandy but what about the pain?
It’s safe to say that at one point or another in every woman’s life, we’ve had to deal with hair removal torture, in the many forms that pain presents itself.
I myself have had my share of bad experiences that include burnt skin, chemical burns and allergic reactions just to name a few.
Let me tell you, body sugaring is my new go to hair removal must have!
When Oriel started the process and began to remove the hair on my legs with the sugar, I was shocked!
I literally felt no pain.
I kept bracing myself to feel that all too familiar pinching sensation but each time I did, I was surprised I felt nothing.
Even on the most sensitive areas,
I was pain free and totally relaxed.
It was such a refreshing experience compared to what I had endured in the past.
Before I knew it, my session was over
and Oriel was applying
a natural soothing lotion
(that btw smelled awesome!).
My sugaring experience was one of the most positive hair removal experiences I have ever had and I highly recommend you look into it if you need to get rid of those pesky hairs (be it legs, arms, facial or otherwise).
High praise to the Sugar Hive for a job well done,

"If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best"
Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson) was an American actress and model. Famous for playing comic "dumb blonde" characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s, emblematic of the era's attitudes towards sexuality.
I do not know for sure if it was Marilyn Monroe who actually made the statement.
What the Meme was Intending to Say
Essentially, the meme tries to communicate that there is a price to everything.
If you want someone for all the great things that person offers then you have to accept that each person is a human being.
A human being is imperfect.
A human being has faults.
There will be things you LOVE about a person
and there will be things that you will not be able to stand about that SAME person.
Do you want someone that has many of the qualities you are looking for?
You will also have to accept all of the attributes
that likely went along
to helping that person develop those qualities.
Do you want someone who has a very prestigious profession?
You will also have to handle that such a person is likely not going to be around much
for birthdays, holidays and the off time most other people get.
Do you want someone who is very health, fit and attractive?
You will also have to handle that such a person is likely not going to tolerate
your unhealthy habits, and is going to sacrifice time to maintain that level of status;
time that could have been spent with you.
Do you want someone who is sweet, considerate and puts your needs first?
Then you are going to have to handle that such a person
might not be the most assertive person,
and that you may have to step up to protect that person
from others who use people pleasers.
You cannot just want the good in a person
without accepting the whole person,
and that includes all the things about the person
that you do not like.
Why this Meme is Dangerous
What makes this meme dangerous
is that for some people,
it has gone from a reminder to take the good with the bad,
to become an excuse, practically a rallying cry,
for people to excuse their own bad behavior.
When I am coaching someone that I have this quote/meme
thrown at me,
it isn't from someone that is trying to present a balanced perspective,
nor is it from someone that is even trying to be a better partner.
It is being used by people that KNOW they are being abusive
and justifying their abusive behaviors by saying they do other things to compensate.
The woman that admits in couples coaching that she spits on her husband
when they argue
and then uses that meme to justify it
because she is a good mother to their kids
never apologizing for the bad behavior
and not even trying to be a better person.
The man that admits to putting his girlfriend at risk with unsafe adulterous sex
and then uses that meme to justify it
because he financially supports her lifestyle.
never apologizing for the bad behavior
and not even trying to be a better person.
That is what makes this meme so dangerous.
The work that I do is a privilege.
I see the best and worst of humanity.
I see the best and worst of individual people.
What would l like to see more of?
People who give more of their best
instead of justifying their worst.
Here is a final bit of frank advice for you, from the coach:
If your worst is pushing people away
then maybe your best really isn't all that good enough.

I work in my pj's and sometimes go a day or two without a shower. For this reason I always keep my hair short (usually a like a crew cut). Then my wife signed me up for BzzAgent.
In anticipation of being a BzzAgent, I skipped my barber appointments to get the full experience. That’s when I received Head & Shoulders 3 Action Formula shampoo in Classic Clean as well as a bottle of conditioner. So I have been letting my hair grow and using both regularly.
My wife's has been having fun running her fingers through my hair. She has not done that in years. (……)
One has been my doctor. I took my kid in for a check-up and my doctor who has only seen me with short hair, commented on the fact that not only did I have longer hair, but he also commented about how it made me look younger and how full and healthy it looked.
It was a nice change, as my doctor has only ever commented about my need to lose weight.
“You still need to lose weight, but your hair is amazing!”
I told him about BzzAgent and that I was using Head & Shoulders 3 Action Formula shampoo and conditioner.
Although I work from home, I do have some projects that take me out of the house, and in those cases, I work closely with a colleague. I see her about once a month. She also remarked that I should keep my hair longer as it looked so full and wavy and how it made me look more attractive.
“It’s looks great! I don’t understand why you keep your hair short when it grows out like this?” I explained to her that in the past, I would let my hair grow out and it would not be this robust and that I was a BzzAgent and told her I was using Head & Shoulders 3 Action Formula shampoo and conditioner in Classic Clean.
Working for myself from home these last few years, it is easy to become comfortable with not having to make appearances, and receive positive comments about my style including my hair. Maybe, a little too comfortable? But I have to admit, the attention and positive comments were a really nice feeling to have, and although I do plan to go crew cut again at some point, I might have to make less trips to the barber this year.
