If you are a woman of the thin eyebrow era, and are now struggling to have a nice full brow look, you are not alone. Many of us are turning to cosmetic solutions to try and get that oh so desired full brow look. It’s not just a fashion trend either, many women feel self-conscious about their looks and some of that lack of confidence stems from what might seem a little thing, little to no eyebrows. I decided to look into alternative ways to my eyebrow dilemma when a revelation came to me via Facebook and Instagram....microblading!
I researched this with great curiosity and was fascinated with what I learned. I decided to take my questions about this procedure to a pro: Maria from Brows by Maria. At my appointment with Maria, we sat down and discussed the procedure, which she explained is a semi-permanent process that requires a touch-up between 6 months to one year later.
"Microblading is a form of artistry where pigment is implanted in outermost layer of the skin (the epidermis) with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine" Maria explains. "I draw hair- like strokes with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows”. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area a and a very precise step of measuring via the facial features of the subject is done before hand (see picture below). Once measurements are completed, Maria traces the outline of the brow that is most natural to her client’s facial features, so that they can get an idea of the shape of eyebrow to follow.
After a few adjustments as per my requests, I was satisfied with the look and I lay down in the chair so we could begin the microblading process.
Measurements Are Taken To Ensure An Accurate Result
Maria’s main concern for her clients is that they are comfortable before, during and after the procedure. She talked me through the whole thing and carefully explained each step as she worked, making sure that I was doing well and that I wasn’t too uncomfortable. This is actually the most common question Maria gets asked: “Is it painful?” Having experienced it now, I would describe it as uncomfortable but not painful.
Maria was very professional and extremely vigilant to make sure that the brows were as perfectly shaped as she could make them as she takes great pride in her work. She has been doing microblading for one and a half years now and her clientele base is growing every day.
A Clean Professional Space Is A Must.
She offers a wide range of services such as eyebrow shaping and tinting as well as microblading, and eyebrow tattoo correction. Her clientele base ranges from ages 23-80 years old and includes both women and men.
When asked “Do you think this is something that can be considered attractive to a potential sexual partner” Maria responded “not so much the procedure but the final result, definitely!”. As much as we tell ourselves that an outer appearance doesn’t matter, it ultimately is what attracts us to the person, and often is the reason we will seek them out or pursue them. When a person exudes self-confidence, this also can make us more attractive to a sexual partner.
The entire process took roughly 2 hours and as you can see from the pictures below, the difference is very significant. Maria’s favorite part of the process is seeing her client’s reactions and seeing the looks of absolute joy on their faces (myself included).

I have spent countless hours watching brow tutorials, purchasing the latest “new and innovative beauty products” to help me achieve my brow goals. From cosmetics, to hair growth serums, it seemed I was doomed to a life of tracing my eyebrows in for the rest of my life.
